I have followed this story from the beginning and have written nothing on it. Close friends and family have heard from me on it but nothing on the blog. Now this issue is really heating up and even some Conservatives are calling those who question Obama, “conspiracy nuts.” I do not know where Obama was born, I have only his word to go by. I have heard his side and I have heard those who disagree. But there is another story here. Hidden beneath this is a very serious issue, that most on both sides are missing.

This man has been untouchable since running. You cannot question his associations, his church, his house deal, the list goes on and on. Obama is the least known President elect we have ever had and apparently the most invincible. Here I would like to lay out the FACTS about this issue and why it matters. Most of the sites dismissing this issue have not used facts. I will go over some of the items disputed about his birth and then talk about what I believe is the real issue. Once again please understand that I do not claim to know where Obama was born. Even in most of these cases I can admit that it is a small technicality that would make him ineligible.

The scanned birth certificate

I have read over and over that Obama has produced a scanned copy of his Birth Certificate (which was actually a Certificate Of Live Birth not a Birth Certificate, 2 different things). This is not true, the DailyKOS was the one to first show the scanned copy. The DailyKOS! The site that was saying Trig was not Sarah Palin’s baby and that it was her daughter’s! They produce the certificate and Obama says “yup there it is” He did not produce it, a liberal blog did. You can see that here.

An article here on Newsmax states that Obama posted a scan of his original short form Birth Certificate. I have not even heard Obama say that it was the original. In fact the date that this certificate says it was reproduced is in 2007! It’s printed on the back and you can see it towards the bottom of the certificate. But Newsmax reports this as the original! The point here is that those dismissing this continue to do so with false information.

Yes, I have seen the sites that say this scanned document is a forgery, I have also seen the sites that show that it is not. I do not know if it is or isn’t. Here is what I do know. I have read by those wanting to dismiss this, that it was checked and found to be real by the courts. This is incorrect. No court has asked to see the actual certificate and no court has asked for it to be checked for forgery.

A Certificate Of Live Birth, does not prove birth in Hawaii anyway. According to Hawaii statute 338-17.8, anyone who lived in Hawaii for at least a year and had a baby born outside of the state can receive a Certificate Of Live Birth. But they would not receive a Birth Certificate with doctors name and hospital etc…

The bottom line on this issue is that this does not prove nor disprove anything. A certificate of live birth does not prove birth in Hawaii. And certainly not one reprinted in 2007 and scanned onto a left wing blog. The fact that it is a reprint, does not disprove that he was born in Hawaii either.

The newspaper announcement

Ok, we have seen the birth announcement in 2 different newspapers. You can see one of them here. I have heard a few times that these “conspiracy nuts” must think that Obama went back in time to put this in the paper. Or that they secretly replaced the microfilm and paid the papers to lie. I have not heard this however from the so called “conspiracy nuts.” You see, if you actually listen to what they are saying you see once again this does not prove nor disprove anything.

The claim that is being made is that Obama’s mother traveled to Kenya to see his dad just before the birth. She was unable to fly back, due to airline restrictions for pregnant woman and ended up having the baby there and flying back later. The claim is that she did not meet the age requirement to have him considered a citizen. This is why I say it is a minor technicality.

Here is why this announcement does not matter and what the “conspiracy nuts” are saying. Not all children are born in a hospital. Some are born at home or on the way to the hospital. How are these birth’s reported? Anyone can call the local paper and report a birth. Why would Obama’s mother not have done that? You have a baby, your proud and want everyone to know. Of course she reported it, she was a Hawaii resident!

No I do not think she saw the future and realized that she needs to report it to hide where Obama was born. And no one is claiming that either. But a birth announcement does not mean that he could not have been born in Kenya and flown back shortly after. Again I do not know but these are the facts.

Other issues

I know there are a ton of other claims out there but it would take forever to cover them. There is one that states that he gave up his U.S. citizenship to go to Indonesia and become a citizen there. I have also heard that he was a dual citizen at the time which disqualifies him. Obama has acknowledged that he was a dual citizen but gave up his British citizenship. There may even be more but again no time to cover them and like I said many are small technicalities. But I would agree that giving up citizenship, if it were found to be true, would be a big problem for me.

The real problem

The real problem here is that there is one easy way to end this, release the original Birth Certificate. Releasing the original Birth Certificate will end this once and for all. But, Obama refuses to do so, even though he says he has it. This is what keeps me interested, what is he hiding? The original would clear up whether he was born here or not. But instead Obama actually has paid money to defend these cases. Releasing the certificate is free!

This leads us to an even bigger issue. The invincibility of Obama and what this all means for the future. I have heard several times that the courts have reviewed the evidence and the suits were dismissed. This is a lie! I have even heard Conservative talk show hosts say this. It is not true! These cases have been dismissed not settled. No evidence has been reviewed because the judges keep throwing out the cases. They have refused to even look into the matter.

Originally all that was asked for was an original Birth Certificate. The first case that was brought to a judge stated that Obama must show his original Birth Certificate and prove that he meets the Constitutional requirement to be the President. That U.S. citizen was told by a judge that his case was being thrown out because he has no “standing to police the constitution!” A U.S. citizen has no right to make sure that the government is abiding by the Constitution! That is a serious issue folks! But many have not heard this, they just heard that the case was heard and settled.

Each case one by one has been dismissed and U.S. citizens are being told they have no right to question Obama. The newest cases challenge that since he was a dual citizen at birth he is disqualified. I do not see this as an issue in the Constitution. Maybe I am missing something but the definition of “natural born” is to be born on U.S. soil. If he was born here in Hawaii than he meets the qualification. It does not say that at birth you cannot be a dual citizen, Obama has stated that he has expired his British citizenship and is no longer a dual citizen.

The problem that we have right now is that he has not shown the original and it is not that much to ask. My biggest concern here is that going forward this can set a precedent that no Presidential candidate will have to show an original birth certificate to prove natural born eligibility. With the way case law works here in the U.S., future candidates need only to point to the case that was dismissed, saying that there is no “standing to police the Constitution.” That is my concern, Obama has proved to be untouchable.

Again I do not know where he was born and I am not sure that even if he was born in Kenya he could be disqualified. He was born to a U.S. citizen. My personal opinion is that no matter what the outcome is, Obama will be the next President of the United States. I do however believe that he should be required to show the original Birth Certificate and end this once and for all. This will ensure that our Constitution remains our guiding policy in this country. That no one is above it. To ignore U.S. citizens requests to see it, is a tragedy that could have drastic consequences later on!
