The Sabath
March 16th, 2008 by JR GriggsI just read an article on WND.com about the sabbath which can be read here
It just seems sometimes to me that common sense is left out of theses debates. The Sabbath is most likely Saturday this is true. Based on the Jewish calender you do not have to be a scholar to figure that out. Here are some points to consider
- Jesus clearly did things on the Sabbath that the leaders did not like. This was to show that their interpretation of it was flawed.
- Jesus did in fact change the focus from the law and put it onto him. Abolishing many laws
- He did in fact rise on a Sunday and die on a Friday. It is impossible to have happened on a Wednesday. Everything was in timing with the passover. To make up some extra Sabbath that must have happened is ridiculous.
- No they did not see Him rise from the dead but the Bible is clear on how long He was dead
The bottom line is that you can argue what day it is all you want, having Church on Sunday is in no way a sin. In fact Jesus made it clear that if you want to try and live by the law then you must follow all of them! Not just the ones you choose. So if you truly believe that Saturday is the Sabbath and that it is the law to keep that, then you have some serious problems. It is a day of rest, if you are waking up early and setting up for church and teaching or serving in anyway, you are not resting. That would be the real sin if you wanted to stick with the law. I help setup every day for church it is labor not rest! It is labor for the Lord but it is still not a day of rest for me. Nor is it for any Pastor or teacher or servant on Church day, not matter what day you do it. If you are a church still bound by law, then you need to keep all the laws. The Hebrews in the wilderness were not even allowed to go get food on the Sabbath and you hold a full church service!? That doesn’t make any sense.
