Family Fun Nights

family-fun-night-bowling I think hanging out with the family is one of the most important things you can do for yourself and your family. These days parents do not spend enough time with their kids. Either they don’t have the time, or they don’t know how or sadly some have no desire. There are countless studies out there that show the benefits of the family spending time together. Most families these days are struggling just to eat 1 meal a day together.

I wanted to take some time to show some ways you can work on this and make it a recurring theme in the site. I am always looking for fun ways to hang out with my family. I will be sharing those here as often as I can.

Find The Time

One of the biggest ways to correct this is to schedule the time. Make a certain day of the week where you have a fun night. Just don’t make it a movie and popcorn. Chances are you are watching too much TV as it is. Another way to make fun nights easier is to find places to go. I am a big believer in what I call “structured” events. This is why I take my kids to all of the All Pro Dad events. It is a structured day. The event is planned and you just have to attend.

Treat your “fun nights” like an important business meeting. You cannot miss it or it could cost you thousands of dollars. Although what it will cost you is actually priceless. You must make the time!

Be Creative

Keep things fun and creative. This is very easy to do. There are a lot of places out there that have family nights available. Chick-Fil-A does one every Tuesday night. The kids eat free! The Cold Stone Creamery by my house also does one. You get a discount on the small cups. Baskin Robbins also started one with $1 ice cream scoops. Denny’s does a kid’s eat free special on Tuesdays as well.

Check your local bowling allies, ice skating rinks etc.. The opportunities are there you just have to go make it happen. Take your kids to the museum, we have a great one near our hose called Mosi, the kids love it! The best thing is that you are not dragging through the events. These are fun for you and the kids.

Take some time to evaluate how much time you are investing into your family and how you can improve it. In the future I will be highlighting different places and ways to spend time with the family and have some fun.
