Cash 4 Clunkers Nightmare (video)

September 2nd, 2009 by JR Griggs

As the Cash 4 Clunkers Nightmare has just ended, I thought I would try to explain exactly why it will ruin more of our economy. For some reason it has been really difficult to explain how economics work to liberals. They either are really really ignorant or they just don’t care. So although I know the video is long, it looks at every aspect of how bad this program is.

This program will no doubt destroy the auto industry even further, then maybe we will just bail out the car dealers too huh?

If you think I am wrong please post in the comments with why, and not just dumb comments like “you’re wrong”. Present some facts.

    Hi JR,

I was in the car industry for many years and you are absolutely right as to what is going to happen. All Obama did was put a band aid on the problem to help NEW car dealerships but I have friends that own used car dealerships that were already hurting before the “cash for clunkers” program and now they are hurting even worse and it’s just the beginning.

    Great video!

    Hi JR,

You have been proven to have been exactly right. I’ve been following this whole Cash for Clunkers nightmare myself for sometime. Your video is one of the best that explains exactly what the Cash for Clunkers program would do, and that’s exactly what has happened (as unfortunate as that is).

It has made it much more difficult to purchase an used car as it has driven the used car prices way up.

I used to think that the Democrats were for poor people, but now I can see how their stupid policies hurt the poor along with everyone else.

Also, Cash for Clunkers did not just destroy cars in the $1000-$2000 range. It destroyed cars that were worth more like $7,000 in some cases. The reason for that has to do with the fact that you get less on a trade-in than you would if you sold the car yourself privately. So the sticker price for some of these cars destroyed was easily over $5,000.

A good case in point has to do with a Nissan Xterra that was traded in. The couple that traded in wanted it destroyed under this program. I guess they bought all the lies and rhetoric. Anyway, the dealership ended up selling the car for about $7,000! Of course, they complained about it, but if you think about it, the dealer is the real hero because they prevented waste (which is pro-environment and pro-poor), saved this car, and they didn’t cost the taxpayers one dime!!!! Now, tell me what is better for the environment and the economy!

    Anyway, thanks for uploading this!
