Breakdown of Obama’s Speech: Lies and Deceptions
February 25th, 2009 by JR Griggsimage by whorange
Obama gave his speech last night to Congress and it was as usual well written. Also, as usual it was filled with lies and deception, mixed in with jabs at the Bush administration. As I listened to his speech I was amazed at the way he slips false statements in the message, that will go unnoticed by most Americans. These are things he has been doing since he began his campaign. This speech was nothing different than what we have heard before. He follows the two rules of the Democrat propaganda game.
1. If you tell a lie often enough, it will become truth.
2. If you say a lie eloquently enough, no one will notice it.
So out of deep concern for my Country I found it necessary to point these out. I have taken the quotes from his speech and added my comments below them.
Economic Collapse
The fact is, our economy did not fall into decline overnight. Nor did all of our problems begin when the housing market collapsed or the stock market sank. We have known for decades that our survival depends on finding new sources of energy. Yet we import more oil today than ever before. The cost of health care eats up more and more of our savings each year, yet we keep delaying reform.
No, our economy did not fall overnight. But we do know that it was a Democrat program that was the major contributor in creating this mess. I cover that here. But to divert attention from that he tells us that it did not start with the housing collapse. No, it is importing oil! It is healthcare! Seriously? That is the biggest problem we are facing today? Energy and healthcare?
You see, the idea here is to divert the attention from what the real issue was and put it onto things he wants more of your money for. Energy and healthcare. If he can now convince you that those are the cause, you would obviously be ok with more of your money being used for them, right?
The Surplus Myth
A surplus became an excuse to transfer wealth to the wealthy instead of an opportunity to invest in our future.
Once again we hear the lie that Clinton had a surplus. This is really easy to dispute but it is one of the most repeated lies among Democrats. I covered it here, all someone has to do is look at the treasury records to see that there was no surplus under Clinton.
Risky Home Loans
People bought homes they knew they couldn’t afford from banks and lenders who pushed those bad loans anyway. And all the while, critical debates and difficult decisions were put off for some other time on some other day.
Again an unbelievable lie! We have these guys on video telling Republicans to back off on their criticism of the subprime mortgage issue. It was Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton who started this mess. Barney Frank and friends refused to listen to Bush and many Republicans that this was going to collapse. We have all here on video but they continue to deny blame.
Bigger Government
Not because I believe in bigger government – I don’t. Not because I’m not mindful of the massive debt we’ve inherited – I am.
Do I really even have to address this? I don’t even think his administration or supporters believed this. He has been about bigger government from day one of his campaign.
3.5 Million Jobs
Over the next two years, this plan will save or create 3.5 million jobs.
They have not been able to show how one job will be created in this bill. This is a guess at what they think may happen but have no proof of any jobs that will be created.
Tax Cut
Because of this plan, 95% of the working households in America will receive a tax cut – a tax cut that you will see in your paychecks beginning on April 1st.
I have covered before how dangerous his tax plan is in a previous article. This stimulus plan they passed does include some cuts. As reported the average will be about $13 a week or $676 a year. An amount that was mocked by Michelle Obama in a speech. When Bush’s tax cuts expire this cut will mean nothing.
Skeptical
I know there are some in this chamber and watching at home who are skeptical of whether this plan will work.
No Mr. President, the majority of America is skeptical about whether this will work. So is Wall Street and is the reason behind the largest stock drop ever in a Presidents first month.
Mortgage Bailout
Second, we have launched a housing plan that will help responsible families facing the threat of foreclosure lower their monthly payments and re-finance their monthly payments and re-finance their mortgages. It’s a plan that won’t help speculators or that neighbor down the street who bought a house he could never hope to afford, but it will help millions of Americans who are struggling with declining home values – Americans who will now be able to take advantage of the lower interest rates that this plan has already helped bring about. In fact, the average family who re-finances today can save nearly $2000 per year on their mortgage.
Wait a second, I’m confused. See, here he knows that you are not happy with bailing out someone, who bought a home they could not afford. So he has to use another reason. He tries to convince you that because home prices have fallen so much, people can’t afford their homes. Since when did dropping home values increase monthly payments?
If you bought a home for a payment of $1000 a month, it does not matter if your home is now worth half, your payment would still be $1000 a month. Many of the people who are so upside down in their homes, are in that position because they refinanced. They saw the value of their home rise, so they refinanced to purchase a new car or a boat.
Why does the government need to step in to help someone who made a bad investment? Sure, there are a small number of people out there who are genuinely in a bad spot because of work or some other event. But a very, very small amount. And we never bailed them out before, they found a way to get by.
CEO’s
This time, CEOs won’t be able to use taxpayer money to pad their paychecks or buy fancy drapes or disappear on a private jet. Those days are over.
First CEO’s should not be getting tax payer money, ever! Second it is none of the governments business what they do. Here is one of the biggest problems with these bailouts. Only some companies have taken them. But I am noticing that an opinion on all CEO’s is forming from it. Obama doesn’t state that he is speaking of CEO’s of companies who took bailout money. Unfortunately, many people are not separating this either and now think that all CEO’s should have government regulated salaries.
Home Prices
but I will do whatever it takes to help …. the family that has saved and still can’t get a mortgage.
If a family has saved and still cannot get a mortgage, it is because they should not have one. There are banks still loaning, but we are back to the days where you had to have a steady job, good credit and money down. This is not a bad thing. It was the government trying to get those people homes that caused this problem.
The home prices must fall. I keep hearing that we must stop the falling prices. No! The true crisis was how fast they rose. We have to get prices back down to where they are suppose to be. Then houses will be affordable again. That family won’t need as large of a down payment.
Trillion Dollar Deficit
My budget does not attempt to solve every problem or address every issue. It reflects the stark reality of what we’ve inherited – a trillion dollar deficit, a financial crisis, and a costly recession.
What Trillion Dollar Deficit? The deficit for Bush’s last fiscal year is projected at less than half of that. Even if it was a Trillion dollars, Obama has spent 3 times that amount in 1 month!
Common Prosperity
I reject the view that says our problems will simply take care of themselves; that says government has no role in laying the foundation for our common prosperity.
The government should not have a role. It was the governments role that caused this! Where in the Constitution does it state that it is the government’s job to guarantee prosperity? Its job is to give us the freedom to prosper. Not to take away when we do prosper so we can give that money to others who are not prospering. Having money handed to you for nothing is not prospering.
Outsourcing and Importing
New plug-in hybrids roll off our assembly lines, but they will run on batteries made in Korea.
Well, let’s keep raising the minimum wage and letting unions jack up labor costs. Maybe that will make products here cheaper!
Auto Industry
As for our auto industry, everyone recognizes that years of bad decision-making and a global recession have pushed our automakers to the brink. We should not, and will not, protect them from their own bad practices. But we are committed to the goal of a re-tooled, re-imagined auto industry that can compete and win. Millions of jobs depend on it. Scores of communities depend on it. And I believe the nation that invented the automobile cannot walk away from it.
Once again it is not the governments job to “re-tool” any company. Get the union out of the auto industry and stop giving US automakers standards that imports do not have to meet, problem solved. I have an article on this as well.
No Pork in Stimulus
I’m proud that we passed the recovery plan free of earmarks, and I want to pass a budget next year that ensures that each dollar we spend reflects only our most important national priorities.
Did he really say that? I could not believe how blatantly he says things like that. People, he really truly believes that you are really really stupid! The bill was littered with pork and that is why it got no support from Republicans in the house and only 3 Republican votes in the Senate.
I really hope that we can get enough info out there to educate those who have no idea how deceitful things are. The media will not tell them. We have got to get people to think. This country will be destroyed by these Democrats, who know the media is on their side and that most Americans are not really listening.
I know that I did not catch all of them, if I missed some please list them in the comments

Jr, You know I think that your intentions are in the right place, but a little distorted because you are still caught up in the terms of ideology.
All republicans think its the democrats fault and all democrats think its the republicans fault for everything horrible that is going on with our economy.
We all need to take responsibility in what is happening. It is really sad that we have people in our country that actually want our President to fail. This is a time when we all need to come together and sacrifice and do what we need to do.
I do not agree with your statement
“Sure, there are a small number of people out there who are genuinely in a bad spot because of work or some other event. But a very, very small amount. ”
That statement I feel is just ignorant. What about Amount pf people on unemployment and the high numbers of bankruptcies in small businesses. You just can’t ignore those statistics in making a statement like that.
I do think its time for the people of the United States to hear truth come from our politicians.
I do think its time for the people of the United States to see our politicians follow through with what they say.
We all say we what to hear the truth and see it.But when we have in our faces everyday : Our declining financial worth , job losses, Foreclosures , and Bankruptcies… We chose to put the blame on others, point fingers and take what we have left and run…
Our country should not be filled with this mess of Cowards and Hippocrates .
We have men and women dying for us everyday. We have mothers and fathers fighting to put food on their table for their children. We have hard working men and women out there everyday knocking on doors and and standing in the unemployment line for ours to to find a job and collect money so they can pay their mortgage. Yet the politicians that represent us in congress and in the senate chose not to fight.
They point fingers, throw their hands up and say well I told you so.
My opinion is … Who cares if you told us years ago and no one listened , who cares who’s fault it is… Lets stick together and use our power and influence do what we need to do. Lets make a move and get on our way to fixing the problem.
Our President made a move. We don’t know if its the right one , and we wont for a while .. But at least he made a move… Let support him as a country, don’t judge him for his ideology or because he does something you might not agree with… He is in this position for a reason and we are not in that position for a reason. We don’t tell ship builders how to build ships, so let our President do the job he was elected to do. Right or wrong : Agree or disagreed… We all need to agree to disagree and move on.
Support him and work together .
Division of county over ideology causes more harm than a few lost dollars in the stock market…,

First thanks for the reply and a detailed one. But I think you may be missing how serious an issue some of these things are. Please read my response and reply. Thanks……
This is not about ideology, this is about truth. It would not have mattered if a Republican made this speech, it id filled with lies and deception. That needs to be dealt with. We know who is at fault, are their Republicans at fault as well, yes. That doesn’t change the facts of what the issues are.
People are being lied to and yes sometimes from both sides of the isle. I will call out anyone who, left or right, who lies or harms this country.
If the President’s agenda is to lead us down the path that has caused other countries to collapse then yes I want him to fail at it. You can do the research this plan has failed everywhere that it is used.
The statement about a small number of people being in a bad spot was in reference to the mortgage issue. The fact is that most who are having mortgage issues are because they bought houses they had no business buying. Or they took out second mortgages to put in a pool. That is fact. It is a very small number of people losing home do to a genuinely bad spot with work.
Why would you not care that there are people in power today who ignored the warnings and take no blame but get to deny what they did and keep on doing it?
We know the moves the President is making are wrong because we’ve seen there effects in other countries and it is not good.
I don’t tell a ship builder how to build a ship but let me ask you this. If you saw a ship builder building ships exactly like the ships that are always sinking, would you say something? Absolutely! Especially if it was your ship.
Let me put it this way. If you hired me to build you a house. I finish the house and it collapses. You then find out that other contractors warned me the whole time that what I was doing would collapse. Would you re-hire me to build you another one? Would you just sit back and say nothing? I bet you would have me fired and in court.

[...] Sure he may have deceived you with his speeches but you were warned. [...]
